Week 15 : Playoff Knockouts

The postseason is here, and we got a crazy weekend of NFL football to kick it off including:

Whether you spent your weekend watching Trevor Lawrence break out against the Cowboys defense, or the Texans almost win again against a much better opponent I hope you all found some time to enjoy some good football even if your team wasn't crushing it.

Matchups

The Loch Ness Burrow vs Roswell LAMARtians

Lamar? Out. Mike White? Also out. Tannehill? well, he played most of the game I guess. LAMARtians had a truly horrible time finding a QB to play this week but it ended up not making a whole lot of difference as Burrow rolled by with with a ~45 point margin.

Even with JT going down to a first quarter injury, Burrow put up a very balanced game, getting between 10-20 points from 6 of his players and a solid 27 from his namesake QB. It's a good thing this team is loaded up on RB depth, because if JT and KWIII are both out or hobbled next week this team will need everyone they have.

LAMARtians had a very disappointing bottom half of their roster, averaging less than 5 points across their final 5 players (RB, TE, Flex, K, DST). With 0 players breaking the 20 point threshold there was simply no one to give them a shot at this one.

momo vs Hazers

momo's team clearly heard my talking shit last week and came to prove a point. Worst starting RBs in the league? How about 53 points between Latavius Murry and Jerrick McKinnon. Getting those kinds of performances from waiver adds in the playoffs is what wins teams championships. We'll see if they can repeat in the semis with Hurts questionable to play.

Hazers put up a fairly strong week thanks to TLaw's 4TDs and Stevenson's huge game against the Raiders, but he simply matched up against a buzz saw this weekend.

Bye Week vs Chipped by Billy G

In our first of two matchups that will determine the winner (loser?) of the Hen trophy we get two teams who both fell below projections at almost every position. There's basically no players to praise in this one.

Bye Week lucks into 14 kicker points (thanks Gano) and that combined with a pretty decent game from Evan Engram was enough to lift him out of the dark pit that is the 12th place matchup.

Billy G was let down by Miles Sanders, who somehow scored 1.4 points in a game the Eagles won, as well as the Carolina defense. Good luck next week!

Oh Godwin he can See vs Jets Fuel can't Melt Steel Beams

Our second losers bracket matchup also saw teams failing to reach their projections, but a pair of huge WR games put this one out of reach for Oh Godwin and saved Jets Fuel from potential embarrassment next week.

Oh Godwin actually also got very solid WR play from Waddle and Godwin, but was outshone by Jefferson and AJ Brown on the other side, who combined for 52.

Predictions

Kelsey Lohan's Ghost vs momo

I'm not calling this one, sorry. I really don't want to jynx myself in my quest for the leagues first back-to-back championships.

Ancient Allens vs Loch Ness Burrow

The biggest matchup of the week. #1 seeded Allens take on the highest scoring team of this season in Loch Ness Burrow. I'm noticing a trend right now that QB play mattered a lot this year as all 4 of the remaining playoff teams own QBs 1-4. (Mahomes, Hurts, Allen , Burrow).

This one is super hard to call. I feel like the RBs favor Allens slightly with JT's injury last week, but Chase is the highest upside WR in this matchup and always has the ability to put up 30 any week. Derrick Henry getting the matchup against the Texans is the deciding factor for me in the end.

Prediction: Ancient Allens

Chipped by Billy G vs Oh Godwin He Can See
The Hen-off is here, and to be totally honest, these teams are not that bad. Outside of Chuba Hubbard (Godwin) none of these players really feel like desperation plays.

Very streaky play from JuJu and Miles Sanders on Billy G's side make it hard for me to select him, but in the end I think Josh Jacobs does enough to elevate him to a win in this one.

Prediction: Chipped by Billy G

If you're in the 5/6 , 7/8, or 9/10 games sorry but you don't get a detailed prediction. It's you reader! (unless you're not in one of those games. If you are stop reading this please)You're going to beat your opponent, I'm sure of it.

2024 Week 3: Bad Luck or Just Suck

There was this site Greg shared a long time ago called Bad Luck or Just Suck (https://badluckorjustsuck.herokuapp.com). We all know intuitively whether we belong where we are or not, but now that we've had 3 full weeks, I'll include some extra validation I'm sure a few of you will appreciate. Ja'Marr SteepleChase: SteepleChase has been pretty mediocre to start the season, not yet cracking 120 points. A couple of close wins against two sub 100 point weeks makes for the third least challenging schedule so far. Like the other two teams with even easier schedules, SteepleChase has relied heavily on luck so far. Expected Wins: 1.56 Expected Rank: 6 Percent Chance of Ranking: 5% Verdict: Dumb Luck Lamarathon Runners: Has anybody checked in recently on Greg's firstborn child? After three years of championship dominance, this team seems well on its way to lucking into a fourth. Sitting just outside of first place by less than 1 point, Lamrathon managed to beat out probably ...
