Week 12: All Tied Up

It's all tied up Through an extremely unlikely chain of events, we now have 5 teams locked in for the playoffs, and they all share the exact same 8-4 record. In order to make this happen, we needed the following to occur: Only one of these teams could face another top 6 team (Ancient Allens) The #1 and #2 teams both needed to lose to lower bracket teams Everyone else in the group needed to win So, we've got a lot of drama to unfold in the top half of our bracket surrounding the bye week positions, but unfortunately for 6/12 teams in the league, the door to the playoffs has essentially been slammed shut with 2 weeks still to play. The only team who is technically catchable is The Loch Ness Burrow, but 7th place Ballderberg would need to close a 240 point scoring gap in addition to winning both games while Burrow loses them both. Instead of talking about my frustrating loss to a team that's supposed to be a Bye Week, lets preview the important week 13 matchups for determini...

Week 11: Thanksgiving

So. I don't really have any overarching NFL or Fantasy Football thoughts this week. If I can be real for a minute I want to say thanks for including me in this league. This was my first fantasy experience when I started in 2014 and even though I would leave Workday the following summer you all have been kind enough to include me for the following 8 seasons. It's been cool being able to keep up with this group over the years, even if it's mostly through the narrow window of fantasy football. This league has been by far my favorite to be a part of and it's because this group makes it really fun and painless to participate.  Anyway, thanks. Let's move on and talk about some matchups Matchups The Loch Ness Burrow vs KY The Dallas Cowboys DST absolutely crushed the Vikings offensive line, and Kirk Cousins along with it. This is one of the only games of the weekend I caught a good amount of, and I've never seen a QB have so little time to attempt a pass before getti...

Week 10 : Playoff Scenarios

Don't look now, but we're 10 weeks through the regular season with just 4 left to go. With that in mind, we're going to dive into Playoff scenarios. What does each team need to make it happen, who's in line for bye weeks, what games should we look forward to in the next few weeks? But before we get there, lets take a brief moment to remember that both the best catch of the year and the worst attempt at one  occurred on the same Sunday in November. I seriously can't see how either of these plays can be outdone in their respective greatness/badness. Path to the Playoffs Hazers : At 8-2, Hazers are a lock for playoffs, but have a very tenuous hold on the first round bye. This team trails every other playoff team in total points, meaning anyone and everyone can jump them with a tied record. 3 of the final 4 weeks come against (current) top 6 teams so there's a lot of room for movement here. Upcoming games : Kelsey Lohan's Ghost KY Ancient Allens Loch Ness Bu...

Week 9 : Growing Old is Getting Old

Fantasy managers talking to their aging QBs half way through the 2022 season I talked in an earlier post about the general downturn in fantasy scoring for the 2022 season, and now I think we're starting to see a clearer reason why: there is a large group of formerly great fantasy QBs who are just getting old. The unbelievable longevity of Tom Brady's career seems to have convinced both NFL teams and fans that QBs can play farther and farther into their 30s/40s, but maybe that's not actually true? What we're seeing is a lot of formerly great passers who can no longer support fantasy receiving options.  Through 9 weeks Back to back MVP Aaron Rodgers is our QB16 Former MVP Matt Ryan has been benched for Texas legend and 6th round draft pick Sam Ehlinger Russel Wilson is QB22 Reigning super bowl winner Matthew Stafford is QB24 This has been compounded by back to back draft classes (21 and 22) which have produced only 1 good fantasy QB: Justin Fields. He's lighting the...

Week 8 : Thinking Ahead

This week, on top of the usual matchup color commentary, I'll add some some early keeper speculation. We're almost halfway through the season if you include playoffs, so I think we've had enough time to start speculating, and if, like me, you find both your keepers and your team in the bottom portion of the ranks, now might be a good time to look into a few trades to bolster your prospects next year. If you're looking toward playoffs, it's an opportunity to check out the fire sales. Matchups Hazers vs Chipped by Billy G The Hazers emerge from their first noodle fight victorious. This is their first week in double digits, but they still scraped by beating the only other team to score lower. Let down by the usually good Davis and Jacobs, and with a donut at kicker, Chipped by Billy G will likely bounce back fine for points, but this was a hard loss when already in 10th. Kelsey Lohan's Ghost vs KY Last week, Chipped by Billy G had a great week, scoring seco...
