Week 3: Offensive Offenses

This was an ugly week for NFL offenses. Or rather, it was a ugly week for the ones that have lots of fantasy players on them. If you happened to be invested in Jacksonville (38 points), Baltimore (37 points) or Cleveland (29 points) you probably came out ok. But for 9/12 teams in our league to miss their projections you know there were a lot of points left on the table. Lets talk about a few of the most puzzling At number 3 we have the Washington Commanders offense, which until this week had been putting up a ton of points due to an elite set of skill position players. Perhaps we should have seen this coming for Wentz after both Philly and Indy decided to punt him off the team, but after two weeks I was starting to believe this offense (and awful defense) were a fantasy goldmine. 8 points against the Eagles is horrific. Worry Level : Low . You didn't pay a lot for the pieces on this team and they should still end up in a lot of shootouts. Apparently occasionally outings like this...

Week 2: Not Even Close

As I sat on my couch watching the Dolphin's miraculous comeback again the Ravens , scrolling through twitter and seeing Browns fans melting down after a total collapse against Joe Flacco's Jets I had two thoughts running through my mind. First: this is the best NFL game of the season so far and it's going to be hard to top it. And second: this is going to make for a lot of boring, lopsided fantasy matchups. As it turns out, crazy high scoring NFL games aren't really conductive to compelling fantasy matchups. When players vastly outperform their "projections" in a real game (and the other team is doing the same thing) we get the ultimate NFL viewing experience (as long as you're not a Ravens/Browns fan). But in fantasy the odds of those players being matched against each other are very low. In our league this resulted in only 1 match decided by 10 points or less while 3/6 had 40+ point margins. (spoiler: I was on the losing side of one of those). So nex...

Week 1: Football is back!

Football is back! It's finally here. After months of articles, podcasts and talk-shows pumping up players or debating legal situations, there's finally football to watch and things went... not really the way we expected. Quarterback Revenge Games One of the fun narratives going into this week was the larger than normal amount of QBs facing off against their previous home teams. Russ tries to punish Seattle for refusing to let him cook , Baker faces a team that spurned him for a serial sexual assaulter(is that a word?), and Joe Flacco.... well he did play for the Ravens for a while. Flacco and the Jets getting crushed by the Ravens? Not really surprising. Baker and the Panthers losing a close one to a talented Browns team helmed by Brisset? Also fairly understandable. But Russ losing to Geno Smith's Seattle in a mindboggling game featuring 2 goal line fumbles and a coach that chose a 64 yard field goal over a 4th down attempt ? That is what NFL football is all about. Matchu...
